Pepe Coin's troubles escalate with Telegram account hack
  • PEPE’s Telegram account has been breached, leading to a $15 million theft.
  • An unauthorized person is using the account to spread fraudulent information.
  • PEPE will use its Twitter account for official communication henceforth.

The official Twitter account of PEPE announced today that their Telegram account has been breached. Recently, Pepe Coin, a meme-based cryptocurrency, has been gaining attention due to internal conflicts among its initial developers and a theft of $15 million, which equates to over 16 trillion PEPE tokens. These tokens were subsequently transferred to centralized trading platforms.

The previous Telegram account appears to have been compromised and is no longer under the control of the Pepe team, as per a recent announcement. The most recent data suggests that an unauthorized person, operating under the pseudonym “lordkeklol”, has infiltrated the account and is utilizing it to disseminate fraudulent information, deceive users, and promote new cryptocurrencies.

The difficulties persist

Furthermore, the team working on the project has confirmed that the individual under scrutiny has no connections to PEPE or any of its existing or past members. The latest update also incorporates a plea from the community associated with the team for the group to be marked as a “fraudulent account” for it to be removed and substituted with a new account.

The announcement indicates that PEPE will exclusively use its Twitter account for official communication in the coming weeks. Furthermore, following ex-staff members’ misappropriation of approximately $15 million in PEPE tokens, the cryptocurrency has garnered media attention. This has led to concerns among investors about a potential continued decline in its value.

The original developers of PEPE coin have been experiencing friction with the present team managing the meme coin. On August 24, the tokens were surprisingly moved to numerous cryptocurrency exchanges, prompting a series of inquiries.
